“CC introduced me to people who feel like home. Although it seemed odd to be sharing my life journey with strangers, I found the journey maps–the most integral part of the CC program–to be the most meaningful.”

“It was absolutely instrumental for my integration into the Yale atmosphere; it allowed me to build connections that would prove valuable when navigating different challenges associated with the change in my life.”
–Steven Shepherd, CC 2023, YC 2027
“A day I will never forget was our CC field trip to the Yale Outdoor Education Center. By that point, we had spent several days sharing our life experiences, but I hadn’t fully realized how close we had become until that trip. One of my biggest fears coming into Yale was that I wouldn’t find friends of color at PWI. Yet, after spending hours on the lake with my CC siblings and parents, making TikToks, and talking at the picnic tables, I realized that the people that were “random strangers” just a week ago were now genuine friends. Even today, my CC family still meets regularly for meals and we make time to hang out, regardless of how busy all of our schedules are.”

“As both an audience member and a participant at the CC Talent Show, I was able to experience the magic of the event from both perspectives. Watching the many student groups perform inspired me to get involved in the performance scene on campus, and witnessing my peers’ incredible range of talents fostered a deep sense of gratitude for being surrounded by such a gifted community.”
